Crowley, Prophet of the New Aeon and His Magick

Crowley had no fear when it came pushing the boundaries of Magick.  He stood against a world that was increasingly hostile to the Art and Science of the Occult.  Naturally, then, his writings are a treasure for the student of the Occult, and he should be taken seriously because there is no doubt he was a Prophet of Magic.

This is one of his writings in my opinion.  This is an awesome book because it has so much content to it, and this content is vital to the student of the Occult!  That makes this book a great one for the student so long as they have time to sit and read and focus on it!

Qabalistic Writings-The Gateway to the Divine

These writings not only explain how to do Ceremonial Magick, they also go into detail on why such practices are important, especially when the goal is the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel.

The Tree of Life is discussed in this book, and for those who are serious about the goal of the Arts, these writings are a must have!!  The Tree of Life is essential in Qaballa, and the Qaballa is essential in understanding the secrets of Above and the secrets of Below!

Crowley’s best Writings on Understanding and DOING Magick

It is great to understand magick, and absolutely necessary when reaching Self-Actualization,as to understand Cross of the Golden DawnMagick is to understand Self, but understanding is not all one needs.  Doing Magick is the most important part.

Crowley teaches some of the most important Rituals of Magick in these writings!  It has the basic rituals that all students of the Arts should be experimenting with at home, and it’s written in a way that anyone can follow along!

For Serious Students, Ready to go further

This book is for all Aspirants who are ready to go above and beyond where they are at now!  It cannot be stressed how important the rituals are in this book.

Crowley went all the way, breaking what was acceptable and what was not acceptable.  Naturally his writings and rituals would reflect this edginess.

Endorsed by Israel Regardie

Israel Regardie is attributed to being one of the main figures in Occult history who kept the Ceremonial Rituals of the Golden Dawn alive after they began to whither away.

In fact, Regardie had so much respect for Crowley, he made audio tapes of himself reading some of what Crowley wrote.  Here is a video with one such tape!

Regardie was a student of Crowley’s, eventually breaking away from him, but not giving up the rituals taught to him by his teacher.  He not only endorsed the book, but he wrote the introduction! Coming from such an influential figure goes to show how important this book actually is!

Tables and Charts to help those who need it

Remember how i said it was for those who are beginners?  This is one of the reasons I say that!  It helps the beginner and even the more advanced who have trouble with some aspects of the book.

Till this day I still use the charts in this book for the Gematria.  It confuses me so often, and so the tables come in pretty handy!

Worth it?  Yes!!

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in the occult!  It’s simple enough to understand, but complex enough to prove to be a great companion to anyone practicing the Arts.

If, for some odd reason, you are still skeptical (maybe you have heard of Crowley and don’t like him, or maybe you know that his writings can be complicated) check out my review on Homemade Magick!  It’s a great book with rich content that is not too hard to understand, especially for the beginner!

If you have any questions or feedback about the book please comment!  I have the book so I’d be willing to help in any way I can!

    Hi Jessie,

I really enjoyed reading your article about Aleister Crowley. Like many people, I first heard about Mr Crowley through the lyrics of Black Sabbath and this sparked an early interest in his work. My daughter has shown a lot of interest in the occult and I am wondering if the book you recommend would be suitable for her (she is 16). Thanks in advance, Andrew

    1. Jessie Mosley

I personally would not for my daughter. But I’m extremely strict and she’s only two so by the time she turns 16 in probably going to change how I feel about it. I’d buy it first and give it a quick read through and then decide for yourself.

  2. Rodarrick

Ive always been in search of answers to life questions in all religions and nature, it just seem to be lacking in one particular piece and I feel if I can add the knowledge of magick to it, then it would be enough to understand the rudiments in this world and be able to answer my questions about the fundamentals of humanity. Thank you for sharing this book and I will try to check it out. It seems interesting already to me

    1. Jessie Mosley

It is a great book with a wealth of knowledge! Thank you for your awesome comment!!

  3. Pablo

Good post! I was looking for something about the Tree of Life when I found your blog.

I like the review of the book, especially I think it has an approach for those of us who want to start knowing the Occult a little

I would like to know a little more about how the rituals are explained in the book, is it possible to follow them step by step?

I am interested to know a little about Gematrias too, I will follow your articles to know more!

Thank you very much for the post. I will take a look at the book!

    Regards
    Paul

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you for the awesome comment! I believe that you can follow the rituals step by step or you can improvise some of them!

  4. Jordan Smith

Awesome post! I really love this book, it is so interesting! My understanding of Qabalah and Gematria was greatly enhanced by studying this book.
I keep 777 right by and handy every time and refer to it daily. There is so much of an information in there. I  find it really inspiring, like I do all of Crowley’s works that I have studied.

    Regards!

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you very much!! He has been a huge inspiration in my life!! I have nearly every bit of his writings I can find!

  5. Henderson

Wow, Crowley had really done a great job on this book and I think that it will be very easy for me to make use of it looking at the fact that there are easy to understand  charts and tables as well. I have just gotten really interested in the occult of late and I am sure that this knowledge on magick will be very awesome for me. Thanks.

    1. Jessie Mosley

You are welcome!  It is one of the first books I read when studying the Occult and in particular, Thelema. Good knowledge!!

  6. Benson

Magick is something i have often seen as not being able to well understand by just reading books but having someone to mentor you well in the act and its practices as well. You have given a very good explanation of this book and although aside the very popular book fo Moses, this is the first magick book i am gaining knowledge of. When you get this book, is it easy to understand without the help of someone putting your through ?

    1. Jessie Mosley

I felt it was. It was one of the first books I read on Magick and I loved it. The book of Moses is an awesome book! If you can understand it, you’ll probably have no trouble with 777!

  7. John

Okay, this is very nice ad I must say that it is very nice to see you bring up this book here for sale. I think I need to buy it because it will help me understand the occult better. I have not heard about aleister crowley before. I want to get that book. Thank you for this!

    1. Jessie Mosley

You’re welcome!! It’s a great book to begin with! Assisted Crowley had some deep ideas on magick and is worth checking out!

  8. Mark

I’ve always found Aleister Crowley to be one of the most fascinating people I’ve ever heard of. The occult is something that’s piqued my interest for a very long time and I find myself reading through books from various authors all the time, mostly to feed my own curiosity. I wouldn’t call myself a serious student of the occult, but there’s a part of me that’s always wondered how it might benefit my life to become more deeply involved. I will certainly keep these writings in mind!

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you for the awesome comment!! It is a good place to start in my opinion!!

  9. Pentrental

Interesting stuff here on Aleister Crowley, I’ve heard some things about him but not in much detail, so this is helpful information to have before setting out on 777. I appreciate you mentioning that it can be a difficult read. Qaballa sounds quite interesting and I will definitely will check out the book further through your Amazon link. I’m glad to see that this book is good for beginners and I’m looking forward to reading it, great post!

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you very much!! It is a good book! Crowley has a lot of good writings! This is just the tip of the iceburg!!

  10. Stephanie

I honestly don’t have so much knowledge regarding this topic, but your article really awoken the curiosity in me. Do you have any other article that explains more in-deep what this specific topic means? Also, doesn’t this type of practice can also have a negative impact on people’s lives, or is that just a myth?

    1. Jessie Mosley

Hey thanks for the awesome comment!! Click here for an explanation on why one would even practice magick! I personally don’t think it has a negative effect but it also needs to be clarified what negative effect is.

  11. Jake

I have always been interested in the “occult” although I have never had enough time to research it.  What book would you recommend to a beginner to the “occult” that would like to try it out while not doing anything too “uncomfortable. Meaning I do not want to raise anybody from the dead or anything lol. I would also like to find something very simple and easy to understand.

However it would be fun to check out some experiments.  Also forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is the occult? in a simple to understand way?

Is the occult safe for beginners? do I need to be careful with anything? Thanks for this cool article.

    1. Jessie Mosley

Hi thanks for the awesome post!! I really like Homemade Magick, it’s a great book to start with! I believe the Occult is an inward practice to reach complete Divinehood using the power of the mind and body and it is safe for beginners! We all have to start somewhere!

  12. Anthony Hu

Thank you for your post. I always like magic since young. I read some magic books, but it is my first time heard about 777-Aleister Crowley, the Prophet of Magic.

You give a very nice introduction on the book. I like your Prons and Cons description, clear and concise for anyone who are interested in the book. I consider myself as beginner and would like to read Crowley’s writings. 336 pages book is fine for me to read.

I have a stressful job. It is going to relax me a little bit by reading the magic books. It is kind of you sharing this interesting book with us.

    1. Jessie Mosley

      Thank you very much!!

  13. Hi Jessie

I am not familiar with the occult but my favorite number is 7 — Does that count? I did like how you put your content together and the information was given to readers. Good luck to you in your future. You might consider a few more pictures also. 🙂  Overall I think you have a great layout.

    1. Jessie Mosley

      Thank you very much!!!

  14. Justin

Hello and thank you for writing this.  I have been interested in learning more about Aleister Crowley because i heard of Aleister from a friend of mine a few months back.  Thank you for the book recommendation.  I will have to give it a read soon.  Do you think its on Audible?

    Anyways, thanks again. Very informational.

    Cheers,

    Jay

    1. Jessie Mosley

Hey Justin!  Thanks for the comment!  I’m not sure if there is an audible version.  I have not found one but there might be if you search around!  It is a lot easier to read I would imagine, because of the charts.

  15. Anastazja

Although looking at life through the Christian tradition, I read as much as I can about other religious systems and the many ways that people encounter creation linking that encounter to the spiritual.  I spent many years living in an animistic society of hunters and trappers looking at the world around them as much more than what is experienced.  I appreciated you article because it clearly lays out the intent and some specific content of this work.  I am wondering if this is something that I would read alone or if it might be suitable for a discussion group on understanding spirituality in the world.  Thanks for the review of the work and for offering it as well.

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you for the great comment!!  I believe that it would be good for both.  I personally read it on my own, but I know of a group about two hours from where I live that actually meet and discuss this book and others!

  16. Ian

I am actually new to this topic. Would you be able to link me the blog post or website where I can find the majority of this information about the Occult? Actually I have a lot of friends interested in this but I am just getting into it so I am not sure where to start. Any suggestions.?

    1. Jessie Mosley

Definitely!  I have my whole site dedicated to the Occult!  I love the occult and have spent years studying it, though I have not been practicing it consistently until last year.

  17. EVA

Humm , hi Jessie! Thank you for this post, it was very informative. I was enjoying reading through every line and having a different approach about Aleister Crowley, this ambitious and controversial man. As you mentioned before, this book is good for curious people like me who want to go deeper. Thanks again!

    1. Jessie Mosley

You are welcome!!He is controversial, and that is why I like him so much!  I hope you get some good knowledge from this site and the book if you get it!

  18. Jerry

As I never heard about magick, I first thought it was misspelled, but then I found this article on the internet explaining the difference between magic/magick and things became more clear to me. The article even mentioned Aleister Crowley as the inventor of this word. If magic is done by using the metaphysical, magick not necessarily does. Thanks to your review I was reminded of the qabalistic writings, which renewed my latent interest in the occult. If this is a way of finding out more about oneself, then I will take some time to get to know more about this.

    1. Jessie Mosley

Awesome!! Thank you for the great topic!

  19. Alblue

Different from the others, I first heard about Crowley from fictional stories related to magick and occultism. This book is absolutely make me interested to read it. I have a group of friends who loves to talk about occultism in both real world and fictional stories, so I may buy this book to learn more about occult. Thanks

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you very much!  Crowley, to me,is the Prophet of the Aeon of Horus.  He brought in the new age with Thelema!

  20. Dave Sweney

This was a great review of the book by Aleister Crowley that introduces a lot of his teachings, thoughts, and practices. The 777 – Aleister Crowley most certainly was a prophet of magic and he is well known by a lot of people. I have not read this book but I have done some research on the man. Fascinating and definitely worthy of more study.

Thanks for laying out the basics of what we will find inside, and I agree with you, at 366 pages this book must really drill down on a lot of subjects. Now that I know it is out there I believe I will have a try at reading it. Enjoyed the post and I learned a bunch.

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you!!! I hope you enjoy the book!  I keep mine in my library all the time!

  21. Ropata

This is an interesting anology and philosophy by this guy Aliester Crowley, Why is he called a prophet I wonder? I actually came here from seeking information about the Holy Spirit. So I am naturally a little intriged when you talk about the Holy Guardian Angel.

I am also a little confused as to what Magick actually is or represents?

    Thanks Ropata

    1. Jessie Mosley

Magick is like the internal strength within us in which we can affect change within ourselves or our outer world.

  22. Wow! I’m surprised to read this since my knowledge of Crowley gave me the impression that not only did he push boundaries, he crossed them and did such evil things, such as conjuring Lucifer, that his energy is still felt at his former home in the Scottish Highlands. I am fascinated by The Arts and I add this book to my Must Read list.

    1. Heck yeah!! Its a great book in my opinion. I’m not sure about him summoning Lucifer, but he did practice summoning angels and demons.

  23. experience of paid online surveys

A very intriguing review of this material.  I’m not knowledgeable about the occult or magic/magick but certainly a huge fan of understanding and being able to leverage the power of mind and body especially as it relates to healing.  is that something that can be pursued to better understand with these writings?  I enjoy your site and information – thank you!

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you for the awesome comment!! Indeed it is!!

  24. Travis

I have been looking to get into the occult and this looks like the perfect book. Aliester Crowley sounds like a good person to teach about Magick, 336 pages isn’t too bad I should be able to get thru that fairly easily. The fact that Israel Regardie wrote the introduction for him was really cool, since he was a student of Crowleys. I look forward to delving into this! Thank you for the review!

    1. Jessie Mosley

You’re welcome and thank you!! Israel Regardie is another of my favorite occult writers! He makes the Qaballa an interesting subject in my opinion.

  25. Paul

I have never really been into this type of thing but recently we have been taking a path down the road of a more chemical free and holistic lifestyle – namely with essential oils, crystals, smudge sticks etc.  We did this, and read a lot of spiritual books, to try and reduce the stress in our lives due to family medical history.

I notice you use the term Self Actualization – not knowing much about the occult, is this something that you would recommend to fit in with the lifestyle we are trying to acheive?

    Paul

    1. Jessie Mosley

Oh absolutely! Self actualization is a term used by Abraham Maslow meaning a person has reached the highest stage of the self, which can only be reached through properly taking care of oneself, amount other things.

  26. julzdk

I’m confused about what this book teaches you to do? What are the rituals for? I know you said Aleister Crowley wrote the book and it’s about occult magic, but what does that mean? I guess I just don’t know what Crowley’s magic is for. I know Qaballa is Jewish mysticism, or am I mistaken? Sorry for so many questions I just find myself a bit confused right now. Thx

    1. Jessie Mosley

no don’t be sorry! Questions are good to have! It shows you are curious and that’s a good thing! In short, the Qaballa is Jewish Mysticism! It became very popular in the middle ages. This book teaches some of the rituals that are in connection with that Mysticism.

  27. Strahinja

Aleister Crowley was a weird person in my honest opinion. I do not like his engagements with different kinds of movements, especially religious ones. I have a feeling this guy had too much time plus he was rich, which is a great recipe for runaway self proclaimed magician. I also do not agree with many of his points as well that he influenced many young people going the wrong way.

    Interesting website.

    1. Jessie Mosley

What exactly do you not like about him or his ideas?

  28. Ed

Thanks Jessie. I will this book 777-Aleister Crowley, the Prophet of Magic. I believe that there are students, young who successful and followed this teaching and possible has the result for divinity. I read other book about abramelin also teaching magic, I will check this from Crowley teaching if there is similar. I can’t wait to read this book. Thanks for the information, very interesting.

    Ed

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you! He actually did the ritual of the Abramelin. He came up with a way to finish it quicker by a few months.

  29. Happier At Home

    Hello!

While doing a search on the significance of numbers, I came across this post.  777 seems like a great book for beginners who are just looking to learn about the Occult.  This has always interested me, but I’ve never actually done any research or read books.  You give a very thorough review.  I think it’s important, as you mention, to have charts and tables to illustrate valid points.

Something you just briefly mentioned was the idea of gematria.  This is something I’ve never heard of but you have me curious!  I’m off to read more of your posts and do some more research!  Thank you!!

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you very much! It’s extremely interesting but can get very complicated as you delve deeper into it.

  30. drinkteahub

This is not really a topic I know anything about but know that Alister Crowley is regarded as one of the great British eccentrics of the early 20th century so this book would be very interesting to someone wanting to learn about, or get an insight into, the imagination of this personality and just what people are prepared to believe if it’s packaged and marketed in a manner that appeals to some need in them.

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you for the comment!! He has written a lot.  He was very eccentric but such an interesting man in my opinion.

  31. Krista

Hi There, I think this subject will ever be a curiosity maker.  Your site is very knowledgeable and you are dealing with a very difficult subject for some people.  The questions I have are:  “Do these books, tapes, etc” lead one to know more about God and the Bible. Adapting the content of your site to include other faiths would show that you are open-minded.  This site is controversial in the scope of religion.  All the Best, Krista

    1. Jessie Mosley

Yes. Thelema, which is the religious philosophy Crowley founded, has many different beliefs within it. Also, my site right now has a series on the Bible and the occult.

  32. Feochadan

Its good to find such a comprehensive book on this topic.  If, as you say, some of it is more advanced, it will give the beginners something to work towards learning and practicing.  I love that it clearly explains the rituals so that even the beginner can easily following the instructions and the tables and charts I would find indispensable.

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you very much!!! I love the book and it has been a companion of mine since I started the occult.

  33. wes

This is a great article for those interested in the occult, I think this book is a great stepping stone for beginners wanting to further their occult beliefs. I have read some of Crowley’s teaching, so it is great to have some of his writings compressed in a simpler form.

    1. Jessie Mosley

      Thank you very much!!!

  34. Danijel

Hello Jessie, I must say that this article is very helpful and informative. I have a friend who is involved in discovering occultism and I am sure he will benefit from this book. His birthday is in 2 weeks so I will get one for him. I like it is pretty affordable yet educative. Hope it will help him a lot.

    1. Jessie Mosley

I think it will! It’s a great book!

  35. Taetske

    Good evening Jessie,

The unknown, the occult has fascinated humans since the beginning. As the word says occult is not for everybody to be seen.

Depending on culture, religion, and era the occult was being persecuted or appreciated. People practicing the occult were venerated or defamed. The many secret societies over the centuries are proof.

It seems that nowadays it has become a social phenomenon and is talked about with a lightness which shows the general ignorance. One should not meddle with these things lightly and just do it because everybody does so. As a person you have to be balanced on all levels otherwise it could really harm you.

When the knowledge gets into the wrong hands it can be a danger. One should only use it for doing good, so stay on the white side of magick.

Have you heard of Damanhur in Italy? There is a sacred forest where plants make music. You might find it interesting to check out this place.

    Regards, Taetske

    1. Jessie Mosley

I believe that knowledge should be for everyone but they must seek it from within, or at least spiritual knowledge. I personally do not believe in white and black Magick.

  36. Maria Mhoon

Hello:  I really enjoyed visiting your website–it is jam packed with information. I am only slightly familiar about the Occult but I see that there are specific references that tie in with bible scripture listed right there on your website.  As I was looking at your top navigation menu I noticed there was a tab entitled “Tarot” and I wanted to ask if you are going to be offering different Tarot Decks for purchase in the future? I know there are many different types of Tarot Decks available and I have always enjoyed having a reading done for me. Are you intending to create a course on how to read the Tarot or at least give instructions on how to get started reading Tarot cards on your website in the future? I also loved your Social Media pop up with all of the places that I could share your content.  Great Job!

    1. Jessie Mosley

Yes! I have a series right now on the tarot and what it means and I have a blog on some different decks.

  37. Aly

Thanks for sharing your insight into 777 and other Qabalistic Writings of Aleister Crowley. I think it’s common for a lot of people to have an interest in the material but to wonder where to start. For that reason, I really appreciate that you have pointed out that this is good for beginners, even though it’s still going to take some dedication to get through the text due to sheer length. I still think I may start with something less intense and make sure I don’t get overwhelmed, but truly appreciate the time you took to review this one!

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you very much for your reply!  There is a good book called Homemade Magick!  Check it out if you get a chance.  It is easy to follow and teaches you the basics with just things you have around your house!

  38. Rose

Yeah I wish to really know more about occult though the 777-Aleister Crowley is really for the more dedicated  ones but not for the beginners like me but I really like your recommendations  and you gave a better review about the occult this ll really help me to know more about this and get more dedicated  to it

    1. Jessie Mosley

If you are just starting out, check out Homemade Magick!  It’s a great book that is easy to understand!

  39. Dave

Interesting read and I’m for sure intrigued. I’ve always had an interest in the occult, I guess that also has it’s roots in me reading a lot of fantasy novels.

In fact I was researching more novels to read when I came upon your site instead. I’ve been told the works of Crowley actually inspired a lot of fantasy fiction writers and I think it would be interesting to see where there are similarities.

Think this one is going on my wishlist for christmas.

    1. Jessie Mosley

Heck yeah!  Thank you!  He also inspired Scientology and the Beatles.  He is popular among some of the rock bands.

  40. Mugalu Mansoor

Am not good at magic but I have enjoyed reading your article about Crowley the prophet of magic because I have got to know a little about him as far as magic concerns and I have also liked the qabalistic writings which talk about the tree of life and I think I need to visit your site and read more thanks for sharing

    1. Jessie Mosley

You are welcome!  And thank you for the comment!

  41. Jonathon Howard

This seems interesting I’ve never heard of this before until now what is the over all purpose behind Crowleys magic ?

It’s definitely a new topic for me And caught my attention I read through some of it and I still had a hard time with understanding it I think you’ve done a really good job on it and it’s definitely An eye catching kind of a topic maybe you could tell me more about what it’s purpose is and why people use it then maybe I’ll have a better understanding

    1. Jessie Mosley

The over all purpose is to improve one’s life through following the Will of their unconscious self

  42. Nice Gal Nikki

Hi, I find your website quite interesting and very unique. I was just curious to how you came up with such a unique website. I do like it alot because of its uniqueness just curious how one would even think to come up with this is all. I believe you should have a lot of success from this website, just keep it up!

    1. Jessie Mosley

Thank you!!  I love the Occult.  It’s just a passion to me.
